VICTORIA – Mental health care is the cause behind one of the most highly anticipated fundraisers of the year. It’s the Courtnall Classic, drawing celebrity guests and raising big money and awareness for a cause that is estimated to affect one in five Canadians, close to six million people. Tara Timmins is schizophrenic and says the money raised through the Classic helps community support systems for people struggling to overcome their diagnosis. Tara now has a full time job at the BC Schizophrenia Society and helps people with mental illness.
