Can you improve your working memory.

March 8, 2013 By News articles on health

When thinking about aging, one of the scarier concerns is the loss of memory that can result from old age. If you’d like to take preventative measures against future memory loss, or find out what you can do to regain your memory now, read on for some helpful tips.

Keeping your stress levels down while studying keeps your memory active. Your brain begins to shut down as stress levels rise, which means less and less ability to recall what you’ve been reading. When you feel tensions begin to rise, take a short break. Go for a walk outside, or make a cup of tea. Keeping your brain relaxed and refreshed will keep your memory at its best.

Use regular study sessions over a period of time rather than a single cramming session. Studies have shown that if you study material over a course of a few days, you have a better chance of remembering it than if you cram in a single night. So instead of cramming the night before a test, establish a regular study time each night or every other night.

If you are searching for ways to increase your memory, then work with others and collaborate on ideas with them. When you do this, your brain fires in a different way than it does when you work on something alone. Bounce ideas off others and see how differently you begin to think.

A great tip for improving your memory is to make sure that whatever it is you are trying to memorize is laid out in a clear and organized way. This is important because this organization will make for a smooth translation to your mind’s ability to organize thoughts. Try to group related items together.

Pay attention to the environments that pop up in your memories. These locations may enhance your learning abilities. Return to these types of locations, or replicate their effects, in order to bring about the memory-enhancing effect of those places. Many people find that a certain level of background noise, for example, is vital to their learning.

To boost your memory, make sure you are getting enough sleep. Sleep deprivation can seriously impair memory, causing you to forget even the most basic things in your day to day life. If you regularly have trouble sleeping, you can try natural sleep aids such as melatonin or consider talking to your doctor about prescription sleep medication instead.

Mnemonic devices can be a great way to help you memorize information. Mnemonics are simply a way to remember facts by associating them with some familiar image or word. For example, each element of a list could be associated with a flower that starts with the same letter, or you could turn the list into a memorable rhyme.

There are many things that can help to improve the memory, as you have seen from reading this article. If you’d like to improve your own memory, now or in the future, make sure to keep the advice from this article in mind, and apply it in your daily life.

January 31, 2013 By News articles on health

Number of children sickened by suspected outbreak of food-borne vomiting virus rises to 8400. According to The Associated Press, German health authorities say the number of children that have fallen ill with vomiting and diarrhea after eating food from school cafeterias and daycare centres has risen from about 4500 to 8400. Authorities in Berlin and the surrounding eastern German states reported the new cases on Saturday, while laboratory investigations to determine the exact cause of the outbreak were still under way. Berlin’s health department says the sicknesses are moderate and most children recover within two days without requiring to be hospitalized. Israel’s finance minister says Iran’s economy is “on the verge of collapse”. According to Reuters, Israeli Finance Minister Yu-val Stein-itz said on Sunday that Iran’s economy is edging towards collapse due to international sanctions over its controversial nuclear program. Israel regards the prospect of its arch enemy developing nuclear weapons as a threat to its existence, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that, although sanctions are taking their toll, they are not yet forcing Iran to abandon work that could soon lead to a nuclear warhead. However, Israeli officials appear increasingly ready to acknowledge the effect of recent American and European sanctions designed to restrict Iran’s lifeline oil exports. Egyptian president’s adviser describes Israel as ‘occupied Arab Palestine’. According to The Times …

January 15, 2013 By News articles on health

For more news visit ☛english.ntdtv.com Avian influenza, also known as bird flu, has resurfaced in India’s northeastern Tripura state. Officials have started a fresh process of culling chickens to contain the spread of the virus. Authorities in India’s northeastern Tripura state started a fresh process of culling chickens, after an outbreak of Avian Influenza, also known as bird flu. Veterinarians and officials began culling chickens on Monday in a state-owned poultry farm in Gandhigram, about 20 miles from state capital, Agartala. The poultry farm is one of the main chicken breeding centers in the state with a capacity of about seven thousand chickens. Officials said about 380 birds died last week and their samples were sent to a lab for testing. Test reports came back positive for the H1N5 virus on Sunday. [Dipangshu Chowdhury, Gandhigram State Poultry Farm] “The culling process will continue for coming two days. Here, along with the hens we have another 1400 Japanese peahens and 20000 eggs, which we are also dumping.” Chowdhury also said poultry in the radius of six miles would be culled, in addition to the birds at the farm. A high alert has been sounded throughout the state for monitoring the spread of bird flu. This is the second time bird flu has been detected in the state since February. Health and veterinary workers had then culled more than 4000 chickens on February 18. Bird flu first broke out in India in 2006. Millions of chickens and ducks have been culled …
